O Magnum Mysterium

O Magnum Mysterium was Sam's debut piece as a professional choral composer. Inspired by György Ligeti's Lux Aeterna, the piece combines micropolyphonic techniques with traditional choral writing for a challenging and dark setting of the traditional Latin text.

The piece was first performed by James Jordan and the Westminster Williamson Voices in the fall of 2018, and was later recorded by the ensemble on their 2020 album "Aurora".
